The following 8 tips will revitalize your liver and help you prolong your liver health for years to come.
1. Leave that six-pack on the shelf.
Here’s a shocking fact: More than half of all the alcohol consumed in the US is consumed by a mere ten per cent of the country’s population. 1 in every 3 American adults is a heavy drinker with a sufficient addiction for liquor to be labeled an ‘alcoholic.’ Behavior like this has only one effect; a ravaged liver.
Liver cirrhosis is one of the most common diseases amongst alcoholics. In fact, alcoholism is the seventh leading cause behind death in America. In large cities, it’s fourth or fifth for adult men. Usually, it will take half a quart of whiskey every day for about 10 years to bring a patient’s liver to the point of cirrhosis. You can change your habits now. Take control of your drinking habits.
2. Consume More Vitamin C
At the University of Michigan Medical School, Vincent Zannoni showed that vitamin C can help protect your liver. Doses as little as 500 mg per day can help in the prevention of fat build up or cirrhosis. Fats can literally be flushed out of the liver with around 5000 milligrams of vitamin C daily. And potential treatment of patients with doses over 5000 mg/day can even help patients recover from jaundice or hepatitis in a matter of days. MD, Frederick Klenner, discovered that such massive vitamin C doses really did have his patients’ liver health back to normal and at work in less than a week.
3. Don’t trust a shot.
Although many will still choose to vaccinate themselves, you will find it immensely reassuring that Dr. Klenner has proven large vitamin C doses can rid patients of hepatitis infections in as little as 2-4 days. This ranges from 500 to 900 milligrams daily per kilo of body weight.
4. Stop that stone from forming.
Now, we’ve got a really logical argument for the vegetarian diet here. Since cholesterol is only found in animal foods and cholesterol is also the main reason for formation of gallstones, what can you do to prevent gall stones from forming? Some companies include immense amounts of saturated fats in all their processed food products. Counteract the effect of cholesterol through use of vegetable juice fasting and consumption of large vitamin C doses. These can both be significantly therapeutic in reducing cholesterol production in your body.
5. Engage in safe sex.
Risks of hepatitis are multiplied for those that sleep with multiple partners or are not monogamous in their relationships.
6. Wash your hands – always.
Seriously, that is not hard to do. Every time you use the toilet, that tissue paper you use for cleaning up your hands is thinner than the promise of a politician at election time. It’s stupid to believe that tissue paper can help keep your hands clean. Think of it this way. You don’t think it would make someone else’s hands clean enough to touch you, would it? Exactly. So, wash your hands with warm water and soap every time you use the toilet. Make this your second nature. Rumors have it that more than 50% of physicians do not wash their hands after toilet use. Really hoping that one isn’t true!
7. Say NO to drugs!
Illegal drugs of all kinds, including certain prescription drugs, take a huge toll on your liver. This is true of anabolic steroids too. Since your liver is the main center for chemical detoxification in your body, it is a really bad idea to push drug use and abuse too far, whether you’re young or not. Quit now before you’re at the mercy of your liver quitting on you.
8. Eat your greens and veggies.
The abundance of nutrients and fiber in vegetables is a sure-fire way to improve your health, whatever organ you want to focus on. This is particularly true for the liver. Since veggies are basically free of all fat and rich in folic acid as well as vitamin B, they can do a lot for your liver. In fact, folate is
known to help in the reduction of recovery time from viral hepatitis and improve liver health.
